2008 Father's Day Rod Run Benefits Sheriff’s Youth Villa

The Central Florida Street Rod Association held their annual Father’s Day Rod Run at the Best Western Maingate South Hotel, US Highway 27 and I-4 in Davenport, Florida in June 2008. 

The event featured cars from the 1920s thru the 1960s and 70s.  Numerous events and activities were available for both participants and spectators.  The “Top Five” award winning cars were Dennis Erion, North Ft. Myers, FL; Harold Clayton, New Port Richey, FL; Randy Balmer, North Port, FL; Burt Harris, Parrish, FL; and Art Swank, Dundee, FL.

There were over 60 cars and vendors from all over Florida participating and came from as far away as Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, and Homestead, FL.  Fund raising events involved a brown bag and silent auction, registration fees, and donations from local business including Lott-Mather Chevorlet, Hughes Corporate Printing, Woodwork Creations, Rex Rexroate Enterprises, Advanced Auto Parts, Mild to Wild Custom’s, Pasco Motors, Muffler Exhaust Center, Rods & Relics, A to Z Rental, Bumper to Bumper, and Discount Auto Parts were among the sponsors.

These activities during the show combined with donations from sponsors helped to raise $1800.00 that was given to the Sheriffs Youth Villa in Bartow, Florida.  Representing the Youth Villa was Debi Girard.
